Synopsis:

As a follow up to our very successful 2013 Patient Safety Symposium, the CAPHC Patient Safety Collaborative is very excited to present the “IWK Family Leadership Council – Vehicle of Excellence in Patient & Family Centered Care”.

Friday, November 22, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EST

This session will be an introduction to the IWK Family Leadership Council (FLC) and an overview of the work they do.  There will be an outline of the concepts of Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC) and the five pillars of the Family Leadership Council.  Three patient stories that will touch on these concepts and pillars will be shared by the team.

An overview of the literature that supports how Patient and Family Centred Care improves outcomes and contributes to patient safety will follow.  There will be time for discussion and opportunity to ask questions.
