Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO) Collaborative

Last modified by Lisa Stromquist on 2016/04/05 17:16

Vision

To establish a standardized approach for the delivery, utilization and weaning of Inhaled Nitric Oxide for neonatal and paediatric patients across Canada. This project will have a strong emphasis on quality and safe care for this specialized patient population.

In 2013 The Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres (CAPHC), in partnership with Medbuy Corporation established a National Collaborative to develop guidelines for the use of inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) in neonatal and paediatric patients.  This Collaborative included content experts: physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses and quality improvement leaders from across the country.

CAPHC and the Inhaled Nitric Oxide Collaborative are proud to announce that the CAPHC Guidelines for Inhaled Nitric Oxide for both Neonates and Paediatrics: Dosing, Administration and Weaning, are now posted on the CAPHC Knowledge Exchange Network

We believe that the development and implementation of national standards will:

  • Provide a focus for quality control and patient safety;
  • Reduce variations in practice;
  • Promote efficient use of iNO;
  • Result in cost savings
