Inclusive Leadership in Mental Health
Javeed Sukhera, MD, PhD, FRCPC Associate Professor, Departments of Psychiatry/Paediatrics, Scientist, Centre for Education Research and Innovation, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University
Description: The events of 2020 have catalyzed a process of reflection and change for the mental health community. In a crisis, leadership is often driven by a sense of urgency. Leaders often find themselves looking inward with a narrow focus and surrounding themselves with those who share similar values and ideas. In this webinar, Dr. Sukhera describes an empirically informed framework for maintaining inclusive leadership and creating an environment that fosters inclusion throughout a crisis situation. Its three components are rooted in constructive tensions that inclusive leaders can leverage to bring balance, predictability, and moderation to their teams and organization. We will discuss how those working in Child and Youth Mental Health and across sectors can come together to foster inclusive leadership during these trying times.
